Washington, DC Sports Network) - The Washington Redskins released wide receiver Jabar Gaffney on Tuesday. Gaffney totaled career-highs of 68 receptions for 947 yards and five touchdowns in 16 games with the Redskins last season. A second-round draft pick by the Houston Texans in 2002, the 31-year-old has 443 career receptions for 5,622 yards and 24 touchdowns in 155 games with Houston, New England, Denver and Washington.

Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather was reportedly arrested Thursday in Virginia on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Meriweather refused a breathalyzer test after being pulled over on Interstate 66 in Arlington and was taken into custody after failing a field sobriety test, according to WJLA-TV. The two-time Pro Bowl safety signed a two-year contract with the Redskins last month after five seasons with the Patriots and Bears.
